Silent Auction benefitting The GRAMMY Foundation
I'm very happy to announce that we will once again hold a silent auction during the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway in support of music education. Last year, we raised over $31,000 for The GRAMMY Foundation and we hope to far surpass that number at our 2013 auction which will be held on Saturday, June 8th, 2013 in the lobby of The Lincoln Theater prior to the main concert that evening.
All 1,200 people attending the concert that night are invited to this very special wine reception and silent auction. There will be several local wineries pouring complimentary wine during this event in appreciation of your support so please come and taste some of the best wines Napa has to offer, for FREE! This year our wineries include our returning sponsors Miner Family Winery, Prager Port, Chimney Rock, Paraduxx and Duckhorn in addition to Castello di Amorosa, Mumm Napa, Jessup Cellars, Edict Wines and Napa Smith Brewery!
I'm so excited about this year's auction items and I hope you will be too. For starters, I'm finally going to auction off my Mason & Hamlin model BB 7' grand piano that I personally owned for 8 years and recorded such albums as "It's On Tonight", "Bringing Back The Funk" and "A Soulful Christmas" on. I'll autograph it to the winning bidder after the show! Another auction item of note is the giant wine bottle of Miner Cabernet Sauvignon that I've collected close to 100 signatures on including Elton john, Bootsy Collins, Jamie Foxx, Bill Cosby, Maurice White, Fourplay, Chris Botti, George Benson, Kenny G, Chuck Brown, David Sanborn and tons more (plus photos of everyone signing the bottle). We also have VIP concert experiences from Chris Botti, Boney James and Dave Koz, autographed items from Billy Joel, Mindi Abair, Carlos Santana, Ramsey Lewis, Ahmad Jamal and much more including my custom made denim (PRVCY) and shirt I wore on the Live From The Inside DVD!!! The full list of items will be available in advance of the auction.
Check out some of the photos I took of the artists signing the bottle:
The GRAMMY Foundation was established in 1989 to cultivate the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture — from the artistic and technical legends of the past to the still unimagined musical breakthroughs of future generations of music professionals. The Foundation accomplishes this mission through programs and activities that engage the music industry and cultural community as well as the general public. The Foundation works in partnership year-round with The Recording Academy to bring national attention to important issues such as the value and impact of music and arts education and the urgency of preserving our rich cultural heritage. - their mission statement
As many of you know, my father was a high school band director for 39 years so I am very passionate about music eduction in our schools. Therefore, I'm extremely proud to be a supporter of The GRAMMY Foundation and will continue to work hard on their behalf to raise funds for this very important cause. Please join me in Napa this June to help the next generation of musicians follow their dreams!
With gratitude, BC
